The obverse of all American Silver Eagle coins depicts Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty since its 1986 introduction. It was originally featured on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. The reverse American Silver Eagle coins from 1986-Mid-2021 displays John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle design, a modern take on an American coin design first used in 1794. From Mid-2021 to now, the reverse has since had a redesign (Type 2), displaying Emily Damstra’s new design for the 35th anniversary year and sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. The new Silver Eagle design illustrates a single eagle coming in for a landing, carrying an oak branch as if to add it to a nest. Get your MS69 Silver American Eagle today!
