Sales Tax

Sales tax laws for precious metals vary widely from state to state. Because of this, Bullion Express calculates tax based on the shipping destination of your order. This means that your delivery address, not your billing address, determines whether sales tax applies.

Each state has its own rules regarding bullion and numismatic items. Some states do not charge sales tax on qualifying bullion products at all. Other states may tax certain types of products such as collectible or numismatic coins, or non-bullion items including supplies like capsules, flips, storage accessories, or apparel. In some cases, states also have product-specific requirements or spending thresholds that affect whether tax is charged.

Due to these differences, tax may apply to only part of an order or to specific items within the order. Where required by state law, shipping and handling charges may also be taxed.

To ensure full accuracy, Bullion Express uses a tax system that automatically calculates the correct rate during checkout based on the shipping address you enter. If your order qualifies for a tax exemption according to your state’s regulations, that exemption will be reflected once your shipping information is provided.

Because sales tax regulations are subject to change, we encourage customers to review their state’s guidelines or consult a tax professional if they have questions about how precious metals are treated where they live. Our goal is to make the checkout process as clear as possible so you always understand how your order is priced.
